Machine Operator Assistant

Job Function Always work safely while processing material per shop orders and customer requirements Assist with setup and helper personnel as needed and coordinate coil staging with crane operators Assist with all required documentation, including shop orders, Slitter shift reports, and inspection sheets Use required tools and equipment, including measuring instruments (tape measure, vernier, micrometer) and production equipment (uncoiler, slitter head, crop shear, recoiler, tension stand, and related systems)Back-up with Set up and start jobs by: Reviewing shop orders and verifying coil information Preplanning work and ensuring materials and personnel are ready Inspecting coils for damage, rust, and proper specifications Measuring and recording coil width and notifying CSR if out of spec Back-up to operate and monitor equipment throughout the process, including: Feeding material through equipment and adjusting components Inspecting surface defects and verifying tolerances Monitoring alignment, tension, and buildup on recoiler Recording measurements and notifying CSR of issues Run material to completion per shop order requirements, assist team members as needed, and perform break, tape, and offloading functions Communicate with crane operators to prevent line backup and ensure continuous production flow Maintain clean and organized work area and ensure good housekeeping practices
