Job Description:
Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next-generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies’ core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs. This role is part of our Hypersonics and Strategic Missile Defense business, which designs, develops, and delivers highly dependable missile systems for hypersonic and strategic missile defense missions. We provide integrated, mission-ready hardware that brings together multiple technologies into unified systems engineered to perform in demanding operational environments. Our tip-to-tail capabilities include payload protection and deployment systems, propulsion systems, aerodynamic interstage systems, separation systems, missile subsystems, shroud systems, launch systems, and payload integration solutions. The Shipping Agent supports an efficient supply chain by coordinating shipments and deliveries, verifying order accuracy and documentation, and ensuring materials are properly packaged, received, labeled, and routed. This role works with customers, vendors, carriers, and internal teams to keep shipping and receiving activities organized, accurate, and on schedule while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates shipments by preparing and processing shipping requests. Arranges shipments with carriers, obtains required approvals, prepares and packages shipments, and updates shipment status. Communicates with customers and vendors to confirm and obtain required documentation and approvals. Builds custom shipping crates and assists with packaging and unpackaging products, materials, and supplies. Maintains an organized shipping area and ensures required shipping supplies are available. Receives deliveries and verifies item accuracy against packing slips. Verifies that required paperwork is complete and legible and works with suppliers to obtain missing documentation. Scans paperwork and maintains hard-copy and electronic files. Labels received items and delivers them to recipients, Inventory, or Receiving Inspection, as applicable. Operates a forklift to load, unload, and move shipping containers and picks up deliveries from local suppliers as needed using a personal vehicle.
Required Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent in work experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, organize tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in office administration or a supply chain position. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience.
