What if your next inverter design had to perform where every watt, gram, and millisecond could change the outcome of an F1 race?
Job Summary:
We are hiring a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to help design and advance the inverter technology behind high-performance electric motors used in Formula 1, Formula E, and other demanding applications. This is an opportunity to solve complex engineering problems where power density, thermal performance, reliability, and response time all matter. You will split your focus between developing our next generation of inverter systems and supporting proven technology already operating in the field. Your work will be highly visible, technically challenging, and connected to real-world performance in our lab, on dynamometers, and occasionally at customer sites. Please note this position is located onsite in Minneapolis, MN.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and develop high-power-density inverters and related power electronics for specialty electric motor systems. Own meaningful portions of power-stage and inverter hardware design, analysis, implementation, and improvement. Test and validate systems in our in-house lab using back-to-back motor dynamometers and advanced test infrastructure. Troubleshoot fielded units and support rapid iteration during dyno tests, track days, and customer programs. Partner closely with software, controls, mechanical, electromagnetic, and project engineering teammates to deliver complete system solutions. Help shape next-generation platforms while improving the reliability and performance of existing products.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with clear academic or professional emphasis in power electronics. At least 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, with 6 to 8 or more years preferred for the senior-level scope. Hands-on experience designing inverter hardware, power stages, traction inverters, motor drives, or comparable high-power systems. Working knowledge of power converter topologies, gate-drive design, motor control, high-voltage systems, EMC, and thermal considerations. The ability to communicate clearly, take technical ownership, and collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines. The willingness to work onsite in Eden Prairie and travel occasionally, including internationally, for track, dyno, or customer support. You will join an experienced, collaborative team of approximately 8 to 10 engineers with access to advanced tools, direct mentorship, and a potential path toward broader systems engineering leadership. The anticipated base salary is $125,000 to $170,000, depending on experience and qualifications, and relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. If you want to build power electronics that perform under extreme conditions and see your engineering make an impact beyond the drawing board, apply now.
