About the firm Rooney Law, P.C. is a community association, real estate, business, and litigation firm in Geneva, Illinois. We represent condominium and homeowners associations, property owners, and closely held businesses, and we offer subscription-based counsel that gives association boards predictable, proactive legal support instead of surprise invoices. The firm is small and deliberately modern: current technology, documented workflows, and no layers between you and the work. The role You are the operational center of the practice. You will prepare and format pleadings, correspondence, and transactional documents; file them through eFileIL; and own the deadline calendar that keeps court dates, response dates, and statutory notice periods from slipping. You will handle client intake and scheduling, keep matter files clean in our document management system, and support billing and firm records. You will work directly with me and other senior attorneys on matters across all four practice areas — association assessment collections, real estate transactions, corporate formation and governance, and contested litigation. You will talk to clients, courts, and opposing counsel, and you will be trusted to do it without a script. What makes this a fit Two things matter more than anything on a résumé. The first is that you would rather own a process than be handed a task list. If you notice that a docketing habit is going to cause a problem in three months, you fix it and tell me what you changed. The second is that you are dependable and you communicate. Filing deadlines do not move, and neither do the commitments you make — if you say something will be done, it is done. When a date slips or a matter goes sideways, I hear it from you first and early, while there is still room to fix it. Clients get the same treatment: an association board president calls with a question and you answer it, or you tell them exactly when you will and then follow through. Qualifications Prior legal experience is strongly preferred. If you have it, say so specifically, highlighting what kind of matters, what systems, what you owned. Excellent document preparation: drafting, formatting, proofreading, and organizing pleadings, correspondence, and transactional documents to a standard that does not need rewriting. Clear, professional written and verbal communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. Real comfort with software. Microsoft Office, document management, e-filing, and billing systems — plus the willingness to learn a new tool without being walked through it. Precise calendar and deadline management, with the judgment to flag a conflict early rather than absorb it. Discretion. You will see confidential client and financial information every day. An associate's or bachelor's degree, or paralegal/legal assistant certification, is welcome but not required. Compensation and benefits$45,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on experience. Paid time off and paid firm holidays. Schedule flexibility, including some remote flexibility, once you are established in the role. To apply Apply through Linked In. A short note about a process you built or fixed at a prior job will get my attention faster than a cover letter will.
