Associate Dean for Research, School of Social Work

Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Research (ADR), who also serves as the Director of the Buffalo Center for Social Research (BCSR), oversees the development of the school's research agenda and protocols consistent with UB's guidelines, and providing leadership in articulating and carrying out the research mission of the School of Social Work.

Essential Duties: The ADR provides leadership in the development and implementation of the school's research strategic plan developed in collaboration with the school's various constituencies Serves as SSW research liaison with university administration Develops the SSW's research infrastructure Develops and promotes policies and procedures that support research Serves as a member of the SSW Administrative Team Chairs the Research Advisory Committee (RAC)Implements faculty professional development opportunities Develops mechanisms to monitor funded research benchmarks and productivity of peer institutions Networks on research matters with other schools to develop interdisciplinary research collaboratives Identifies and advocate for BCSR research infrastructure needs. Develops and implements BCSR strategic plan in conjunction with RAC.Chairs the Grants Team and Project Design Team. Develops and manages the BCSR budget Reports on research activities and funded research portfolio as required. Hires, supervises, and evaluates BCSR staff Organizes and implements the BCSR Distinguished Scholars Series. Manage endowment accounts according to donor's directive. Administer the Fed-AWARD program. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in social work or a related field. Record of scholarship that meets the requirements for the rank of associate or full professor with tenure. Proven track record of procuring external funding from various sources including foundation, state, and federal grants. Record of having mentored faculty and students in starting research projects and procuring funding.
