Student Assistant The Student Assistant will support the Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Design program within the School of Human Ecology as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Fall 2026. The Student Research Assistant will support Dr. Genevieve Yumin Kim. Dr. Kim's research focuses on sustainability, fashion entrepreneurship, and practical applications addressing ethical and social issues in the global fashion industry. The Assistant will assist with data collection and analysis, as well as creative activities involving natural textile dyeing methods and sustainable fashion product development that promote awareness of sustainable practices. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities:
- Searches for academic journal articles and related research materials
- Transcribes research interviews
- Sets up, tracks, and manages data collection processes
- Assists with data collection and qualitative/quantitative data analysis
- Provides field study assistance for research projects
- Prepares materials for projects
- Shift Specifics: Up to 10 hours per week. Flexible with schedule of availability
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements:
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with research tools and software such as R, SPSS, Amos, NVivo, Qualtrics, or other qualitative/quantitative research platforms. Junior, senior, or graduate standing, majoring in Fashion, Psychology, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance multiple tasks and meet deadlines successfully. Experience working independently and completing weekly tasks efficiently. Commitment to research ethics and data privacy. Familiarity with university library services, interlibrary loans, and online journal databases. Ability to comprehend interdisciplinary research and methodology. Excellent grammar, proofreading, and editing skills.
Proposed Salary: $10.00 per hour. This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

SKILLS:
