Corrections ARDC Specialist Dixon Correctional Institute is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Corrections ARDC Specialist to join our team. This position plays a vital role in supporting offender management by reviewing, validating, and updating Assessment, Reclassification, and Custody (ARDC) data to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to Department of Corrections policies. The Corrections ARDC Specialist works closely with institutional leadership, classification staff, and security personnel to maintain timely offender records, process classification decisions, and support institutional safety and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, sound judgment, effective communication, and a commitment to upholding professional standards in a correctional environment. Qualified applicants should be motivated, organized, and eager to contribute to the mission of DCI by supporting accurate offender classification and promoting safe, secure, and humane operations. An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies: Communicating Effectively: The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement. Focusing on Customers: The ability to understand and meet the needs, preferences, and experiences of internal and external customers. Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
Job Duties:
- Review, verify, and update offender ARDC (Assessment, Reclassification, and Custody) data.
- Process classification actions and ensure compliance with DOC policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate offender records and documentation.
- Coordinate with classification staff and security personnel regarding custody levels and housing decisions.
- Assist in preparing reports, audits, and required institutional documentation.

- Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEECurrent permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
