Speech Language Pathologist Assistant Pay Grade Calendar Days Salary Minimum AD3 180 Days $55,967 Effective the 25-26 school year this position will receive an additional $5,000 Critical Needs Stipend!
Reports To: Director of Special Education Terms: 180 Days
Department: Special Education Pay Grade: AD3Primary Function
Provide speech-language pathology services and appropriate intervention services to eligible students under the direction of an ASHA certified or licensed supervisor. Maintain speech and language special education records and documentation as directed by a licensed supervisor.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university Valid Texas license as Speech-Language Pathology Assistant granted by the Texas Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Special Knowledge/Skills Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of speech-language disorders and conditions, habilitation and rehabilitation of speech, language, and hearing disorders. Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned ExperienceOne year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience preferred EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated annually in accordance with provision of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
Essential Job Functions:
- Comply with policies established by IDEA-B and State licensure laws, rules and regulations for Special Education, and the local board policy in the area of assessment, timelines, placement and planning for Special Education students.
- Assist the SLP with speech, language and hearing screening without clinical interpretation
- Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP) under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Collect accurate data and session notes to assist Speech Language Pathologist in completion of progress report.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students under the direction of the licensed supervisor.
- Attend regularly scheduled speech therapy meetings.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established the Code of Ethics from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
- Administer routine tests, without clinical interpretation, as directed by supervisor when the licensed supervisor has assured proper training and administration of such tests.
- Serve as a liaison between the SLP and the campus staff.
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics.
- Develop needed professional skills appropriate to job performance.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and the Superintendent of Schools.

- Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds)
- Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
Environment: Indoors including but not limited to: classroom, cafeteria, library, or other campus location. Outdoors (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather). Exposure to noise. May work prolonged or irregular hours. A remote location in the event of a declared emergency, temporary closure, or closure.
Personal Protective Equipment may be required.
