Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Construction Project Manager to oversee projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This individual will collaborate with estimating, field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to ensure each project is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. The ideal candidate has a strong background in civil construction, including earthwork, utilities, grading, and site development, along with the leadership and financial management skills needed to successfully manage multiple projects and priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, soils reports, and contract documents.
Lead quantity takeoffs and estimate reviews for:
- Temporary erosion and sediment control, or TESCMass and fine grading
- Underground utilities
- Structural excavation and backfill
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate proposals from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Participate in budgeting, bidding, preconstruction planning, and proposal development.
- Manage project startup, handoff, and job setup.
- Lead project buyout and oversee subcontract administration.
- Manage insurance compliance, submittals, and project document control.
- Partner with Superintendents to coordinate:
- Project planning, scheduling, and sequencing
- Material procurement and deliveries
- Requests for information and contract correspondence
- Change management and identification of extra work
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, and cost-to-complete reporting.
- Manage contract administration, owner billings, change orders, lien releases, and collections.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Lead the project closeout process, including punch lists, as-built documentation, warranties, and final payment requirements.
- Ensure projects comply with company safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual obligations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent civil construction experience.
Proven experience managing civil construction projects involving earthwork, utilities, grading, excavation, or site development.
Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and contract administration.
Experience with construction management, estimating, scheduling, and document control software.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Project, and Word.
Excellent organizational, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
