Installation Technician Provide support, maintenance, troubleshooting and installation of specialized equipment such as two-way radios, mobile data terminals, video equipment, lighting and sound equipment into public safety vehicles.
Essential Functions:
Installs, replaces, modifies upgrades, and maintains public safety equipment, including but not limited to emergency vehicle equipment, radios, lighting and siren equipment, Mobile Data Terminals, and In-Car Video Systems. Performs other related work as required.
Minimum Education and Training:
Three years' experience with equipment and software in area of responsibility. An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job's essential duties.
License and Certifications:
- A valid driver's license.
- Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable hardware, software, and peripheral devices; vehicle installation practices; diagnostic analyzer tools and equipment; customer service principles; recordkeeping principles; basic inventory principles.
- Must have experience with 12V. vehicles
- Must have hand tools to include sockets, screw drivers, wrenches, wire strippers. Specialty tools will be provided.
Skill in troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, network, and peripheral problems; providing customer service; utilizing diagnostic analyzers and related equipment and tools; preparing records and reports; installing and configuring public safety equipment to include lights, wires, radios, computers, vehicle partitions and related peripherals; communicating technical information to a non-technical audience; monitoring inventory; communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements:
The work requires exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
