Wind Harvest International designs, sells, and develops projects for mid-size, H-type vertical-axis wind turbines. Our Wind Harvesters capture turbulent, mid-level winds and go where traditional turbines can’t be permitted or won’t perform well. Building on Technology Readiness Level 7 testing at the UL Advanced Wind Turbine Testing Facility in Amarillo, Texas, we are on course to reach TRL 8 in the first half of 2027 and TRL 9 in 2028. Our near-term focus is behind-the-meter projects. Our long-term goal is to unlock the strong, untapped wind resources beneath existing wind farms.
Base Salary:
$150,000–$200,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise. Incentive Compensation: Eligible for performance-based incentive compensation. The incentive structure will evolve as Wind Harvest advances toward commercial sales.
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid position based in Davis, California, with an expectation of approximately three days per week in the office.
The Role:
Wind Harvest is hiring its first dedicated sales leader. We are looking for a Sales Manager who can advance to become the Vice President of Sales, or someone who is qualified now to step into that role. This hire will build and lead our sales department: setting go-to-market strategy while personally generating opportunities, negotiating agreements, and closing business. The person hired will also lay the foundation for a scalable sales organization, from sales processes, forecasting, and CRM discipline to hiring and coaching the team you will lead.
Key Responsibilities:
Go-to-market strategy.
Pursue priority markets, customer segments, and strategic accounts, starting with projects in markets with good wind speeds and high electricity costs. Refine the strategy as market conditions, customer feedback, and our technology readiness evolve.
Business development.
Build the pipeline through prospecting, industry relationships, partnerships, events, referrals, and executive-level outreach.
Closing complex deals.
Lead opportunities from discovery through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution. Work with executive, technical, finance, and legal colleagues on pricing, scope, schedule, and commercial terms.
Consultative, technical selling.
Master our technology, project economics, and value proposition, and explain them clearly to technical and non-technical buyers. Partner with Engineering so every claim, specification, certification, and warranty commitment matches approved documentation and what Wind Harvest can deliver.
Stakeholder management.
Keep customers, site owners, utilities, partners, and internal teams aligned through long project-development cycles. Manage expectations, surface risks early, and keep decisions moving.
Pipeline and forecasting.
Set sales stages, qualification standards, KPIs, and forecasting methods in our Monday.com CRM. Give leadership clear visibility into pipeline health, projected revenue, and risks.
Market intelligence and events.
Bring customer and competitive insight back to leadership to shape positioning and priorities. Identify the trade shows and conferences worth attending, lead preparation and follow-up, and measure their return.
Building the sales team.
Plan the sales organization’s growth and, with HR and leadership, define future roles, compensation, and hiring priorities. Recruit, onboard, and coach the team, building a culture of customer focus, accountability, and ethical selling.
Qualifications:
Required 5-10 years of B2B sales or business development experience, including senior commercial leadership, with a record of winning new business Experience selling complex, technical, or capital-intensive solutions, such as energy, infrastructure, or industrial equipment, through long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles Experience developing go-to-market strategies and opening new markets or territories Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience aligning customers, partners, and internal teams on complex deals Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and executive communication skills Experience running a CRM-based pipeline, forecasts, and sales metrics, and reporting to executive leadership A hands-on, player-coach approach: willing to sell personally while building the organization PreferredBachelor’s degree in engineering; degrees in business, energy, or a related technical field will also be considered Experience in renewable energy, clean tech, wind, energy infrastructure, or project development, including familiarity with project economics or commercial energy purchasing Experience building a sales function at an early-stage company Experience recruiting, managing, and coaching sales professionals Don’t meet every qualification? We still encourage you to apply. We care most about leadership, commercial judgment, and initiative.
