The electrical engineer is responsible for the design, analyses, integration, test, and management of the electrical subsystem of spacecraft, payloads, instruments, and technology demonstrators. The electrical subsystem includes the power generation, power distribution, avionics, grounding, isolation, data signals, inhibits and electrical safety. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSA Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical areaAt least 1-3 years of related experience in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or relevant technical fieldDetailed understanding of electrical engineering, avionics, power generation/distribution, EEE parts, and harnessing as applied to space environmentsNASA or industry spaceflight experienceDetail knowledge and experience with Altium for electrical designs and layoutDemonstrated skillset with reading, evaluating, and reviewing electrical schematics and drawingsExperience with electrical verification and validation including electrical testing, pinout checks, safe to mates, and Environmental Stress Screening (ESS) Must be flexible in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, competing priorities, and unpredictable eventsThorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasksFamiliar with and able to present data and recommendations to a diverse audience of project managers, scientists, engineers and technical staffSuperb verbal and written communication skillsIdeal candidate has demonstrated ability to assign work and manage personnel and tasks Self-motivated and independent thinkerPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSKnowledge and experience with NASA standards and best practices as they relate to Electrical Design and EEE parts a desireUnderstanding of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) / Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) a benefitExperience with Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) a bonusWorking knowledge of Atlassian tools Confluence and Jira beneficialExceptional customer relationship management highly desirableYou may not check every box or your experience may look a little different from what is outlined, but if you think you can bring Electrical Engineering value we encourage you to applyRESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the design, analyses, integration, test, and management of the electrical subsystem of spacecraft, payloads, instruments, and technology demonstrationsSystem architecture definitionand decomposition into electrical block diagrams and designsDesign the electrical subsystem including power generation, power distribution, avionics, grounding, isolation, data signals, inhibits, and electrical safetyDefine the work products, tasks, parts, components, and electrical system architecture in support of the project concept of operations and requirementsDesign activities include power budgets, circuit design, printed circuit board layout, parts selection, harnessing, analyses, and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Creating, reading, evaluating, updating, and reviewing electrical schematics and drawingsWorking with other subsystem engineers (mechanical, thermal, C&DH, ADCS/GNC, communications, propulsion, software) to optimize design form, fit, function, and performance of the electrical subsystemDerating EEE parts for the spaceflight environmentEvaluation of EEE parts for radiation environments including Total Ionizing Dose (TID) and Single Event Effects (SEE) Create, define, document, control, and verify electrical interfaces for subsystems, payloads, and technologiesCoordination with fabrication for PCB production and parts placement to NASA standards and best practicesDefine, write test procedures, and perform electrical subsystem tests to validate and verify the system designResponsible for monthly, annual , and milestone review electrical products and reportsIdentify, communicate, and deconflict tasks, deliverables, and schedule impactsWorking with the project managers, systems engineers, and technical staff to forecast, track performance, and provide insightsInterface with Government, contractors and mission partner staff for electrical design and interfacesSome travel may be required to support mission and project partners
