About the position: In this role, you will grow and strengthen relationships with mid-level donors while helping build a pipeline of future major and planned gifts. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, this position will develop and manage strategies to retain, engage, and increase support from donors giving $1,000–$2,500, identify qualified prospects for the major gifts pipeline, and support AKF’s planned giving program. This is an opportunity to play a key role in growing AKF’s individual giving program, deepening donor relationships, increasing revenue, and developing the next generation of legacy donors.
Responsibilities: Grow and manage mid-level giving: Develop and maintain a portfolio of donors and prospects giving $1,000–$2,500, with a focus on retention, increased giving, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Build the major gifts pipeline: Qualify and identify donors with potential for $5,000+ gifts and facilitate their transition to the Major Gifts program. Develop fundraising strategies: Collaborate with Individual Giving and Digital Fundraising teams on annual and campaign strategies, donor segmentation, communications, and cross-channel appeals. Strengthen donor relationships: Build meaningful relationships with donors through personalized communications, including phone calls, meetings, email, and mail. Coordinate direct mail communications to prospective and current donors, maintain accurate donor reports, and track stewardship activities and results. Support planned giving: Cultivate planned giving prospects, promote legacy giving opportunities, and assist with the administration and tracking of bequests, estates, and other planned gifts. Support workplace giving: Complete required applications, update promotional materials, and serve as the primary contact for events. Maintain donor information: Use Raiser’s Edge NXT to document donor interactions, track activity, and maintain accurate prospect and donor information. Collaborate across teams: Partner with colleagues, legal counsel, and external vendors to advance individual and planned giving initiatives. Provide excellent donor service and support donor inquiries and related communications. Travel for donor meetings as needed, up to 10%.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Health, or a related field.3+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience, particularly in individual giving, donor engagement, and fundraising campaigns. Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, customer service, problem-solving and PC skills including Microsoft Office proficiency (Raiser’s Edge NXT, Engaging Networks or similar fundraising database experience is a plus).Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet fundraising goals. High level of integrity and sound judgment when working with donors and confidential information. Experience with prospect research and screening tools.
