Observation Unit Registered Nurse

Essentia Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Observation Unit. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals requiring short-term monitoring and treatment. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, medication administration, telemetry monitoring, care coordination, patient and family education, and safe discharge planning. You will collaborate closely with physicians and an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment that values compassion, innovation, and teamwork, with strong support for professional development and work-life balance. Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing patient monitoring on the Observation Unit Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately Monitor telemetry and vital signs, identifying and reporting changes in patient condition Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans in collaboration with providers Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions Coordinate safe and timely discharges, including follow-up care and resources Document all care and patient responses accurately in the EHR Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes Maintain high standards of infection prevention, safety, and quality care Participate in continuous learning, unit initiatives, and quality improvement efforts Patient assessment Care planning and coordination IV therapy and medication administration Cardiac and telemetry monitoring Wound care Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Patient and family education Discharge planning Infection control practices Interdisciplinary team collaboration Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active RN license (state-appropriate) BLS certification ACLS preferred Telemetry certification preferred Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
