Research Assistant/ Associate

Responsibilities: Assist with project team spray trials. Manage drone fleet. Repair drones. Conduct field studies. Manage project progress and data. Organize drone events. Supervise undergraduate and graduate student workers in the field. Attend professional conferences, expos, and tradeshows and promote AU studies and project team to generate national and international impact.

Qualifications: Research Assistant: All levels require a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, or closely related field at the time employment begins. Level I:No experience required. Level II:2 years of experience in research practices and protocols. Level III:4 years of experience in research practices and protocols. Level IV:6 years of experience in research practices and protocols. Research Associate: All levels require a Master's degree from an accredited institution in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Breeding, or closely related field at the time employment begins. Level I:No experience required. Level II:2 years of experience in research practices and protocols. Level III:4 years of experience in research practices and protocols. Certifications: Successful candidate is expected to obtain Alabama commercial pesticide license-D&R category and FAA part 107 remote pilot license within 3 months of employment. Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to selection.

SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED FOR EXPERIENCE: Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
