Network Deployment Engineer

Overview In this contract role, you will lead field deployments to replace legacy network hardware with standardized infrastructure at remote sites. You will work hands-on at Great Bend, KS and McCook, NE, installing routers, firewalls, switches, and cabling, and supporting remote teams during activations. The project is 2–3 days, with potential to scale into a nationwide MDF site modernization. You will troubleshoot during cutovers and ensure site readiness, connectivity, and services after deployment. Responsibilities Remove outdated equipment and install replacement hardware aligned with current standards Mount and connect routers, firewalls, and related components with proper cabling practices Provide console access during activation and support remote teams via Microsoft Teams Reconnect copper and fiber patching to restore site connectivity and maintain clean cabling Troubleshoot on-site during cutovers to resolve hardware, connectivity, or configuration issues Validate services after deployment (wireless, printing, phone connectivity)Work independently at remote sites, manage installation tasks end-to-end, and provide progress updates Operate with standard field tools, laptop-based terminal access, and connectivity equipment to complete deployments safely Key requirements Practical hands-on experience with routers, firewalls, switches, and structured cabling Strong ability to work independently in telecom field spaces Effective troubleshooting during site activations Ability to install and activate equipment in field locations and remote sites Independent work ethic Clear communication Problem-solving mindset Routers, firewalls, switches Structured cabling Console access and laptop-based terminal use
