Prospect Blue is hiring a Controller for a well-established company in Richmond, VA!A well-established company in the Petersburg, VA area is seeking a Controller to oversee accounting operations and financial reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role for a CPA who thrives in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy environment.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with industry accounting standards and manufacturer reporting requirements
- Develop and monitor internal controls
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax preparers, and financial institutions
- Analyze departmental profitability and provide actionable insights to management
Qualifications:
- CPA required 5+ years of accounting experience, with prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred
- Automotive retail accounting experience strongly preferred (familiarity with DMS systems a plus)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
