Education & Workforce Development Lead

Overview In this role you will design and implement inclusive training and career pathways to enable underrepresented community members to access skills, certifications, and opportunities in the clean energy economy. You will partner with technical experts, nonprofits, training providers, and contractors to align offerings with market demand and decarbonization goals. You will also build capacity among building stakeholders to lead decarbonization projects and Local Law 97 compliance within their organizations. This is a mission-driven position focused on equity, collaboration, and scalable workforce development across NYC’s building sector. Responsibilities Lead workforce development strategy aligned with NYC building decarbonization needs Coordinate existing training opportunities and build clear learning pathways for contractors, building owners, and trainees Identify education gaps and co-develop new programming with providers Build partnerships with MWBE firms, unions, vocational schools, and community organizations to widen equitable training pipelines Oversee curriculum development, instructor recruitment, and delivery of training on building science, electrification, and energy efficiency Develop two training tracks: pipeline (training, certification, placement) and capacity-building for building stakeholders Design Building Champion training pathways for boards, managers, staff to navigate projects and support decisions Coordinate with partners to reuse and adapt existing curriculum, avoiding duplication Facilitate peer learning and community-building offerings (workshops, roundtables, cohorts)Promote equitable access through targeted outreach and wraparound services Connect graduates with job opportunities through contractor and case management teams Track participation, certification, placement, and advancement; iterate based on labor market trends Represent the program in citywide coalitions and with funders to advocate for inclusive training Implement KPIs and support audits to assess training quality and compliance Mentor internal staff, interns, and contractors; deliver team trainings to align goals Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment Key requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent with education, workforce development, or public policy preferred Minimum 7 years in workforce development, training, or program leadership Knowledge of building science, energy efficiency, or construction trades preferred Familiarity with NYC Local Law 97 and Climate Mobilization Act preferred Experience with co-op/condo boards or stakeholder governance is a plus Strong record of building community partnerships and equity-centered design Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills Experience in curriculum development, outcomes tracking, and partnership management Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and data tracking tools Familiarity with energy efficiency policies and workforce regulationsfacilitationcommunicationstakeholder engagementcurriculum developmentoutcome trackingpartnership management
