Sales & Use Tax Accountant

Responsibilities: Complete and submit straightforward state and local sales and use tax filings with a strong focus on timeliness and accuracy. Review transaction and property-related tax records, verify assessed values and billing details, and help resolve inconsistencies in jurisdictional data. Assist with registration filings, business license applications, renewals, and other compliance tasks required by taxing authorities. Help manage property tax compliance calendars by tracking reporting obligations, filing milestones, and incentive-related deadlines. Support appeal administration by compiling records, organizing supporting materials, coordinating follow-up communications, and maintaining status reporting. Contribute to audit readiness by collecting documentation, building support schedules, responding to information requests, and reinforcing control procedures. Monitor shared tax communication channels, evaluate incoming notices, and direct items to the appropriate internal contacts for action. Coordinate estimate requests and status updates by gathering needed information and communicating with stakeholders and third-party consultants. Research indirect tax rules, assessment practices, and jurisdiction-specific requirements to support compliance decisions and issue resolution. Partner with Accounting, Accounts Payable, Real Estate, Operations, and external advisors to address tax questions, improve reporting, and support system-related compliance updates.
