Description: American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2+ years of MS/Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details: Med/Surg Tele unit caring for acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients. Patient diagnoses include acute/chronic respiratory illness, post-op general surgery, GYN surgery, total knee/hip replacements, GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema, diabetes, renal failure, drug overdose, arrhythmia, and stable COVID patients. Patient ratio of 1:5-6. Administers IV medication drips including Heparin and TNA. Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00am-7:30pm. Every other weekend rotation required. Must work at least one day of each winter holiday (Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve or New Year's Day). Floating required to any Cone Health campus as needed.

Requirements: Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration. BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred. Minimum 2 years of RN experience required. MS/Tele and telemetry experience required. Epic EMR experience required. Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, nasal cannula, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, isolation precautions/PPE, and telemetry monitoring. Preferred skills include port access/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, chest tube management, remote telemetry monitoring, rapid response/code team participation, and pre/post hemodialysis management. Community hospital experience preferred. Must pass a compliance EKG exam (two attempts allowed). Current driver's license required to verify address. RTO must be submitted with application; no post-submission RTO accepted. No open background check cases permitted.

Additional Information: Provide nursing care to acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients on a telemetry unit. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted within this radius. Third-party education verification required. Study materials for the EKG exam are not provided by the facility.
