Foodservice Assistant/Cook

Responsibilities: Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious and delicious meals in accordance with specified menus, dietary requirements, and portion sizes. Assist in planning menus, considering factors such as nutritional balance, dietary restrictions, and camper preferences. Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness of kitchen facilities. Kitchen Operations: Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen environment. Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies and kitchen equipment. Operate kitchen appliances and equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions and guidelines. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to coordinate meal preparation and service schedules. Communicate effectively with camp directors and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and address any dietary concerns or special requests. Camp Support: Assist with general camp duties and activities outside of kitchen responsibilities, as needed. Maintain a positive and supportive attitude, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive camp environment for campers and staff alike.

Qualifications: Legal authorization to work in the U.S. Willingness to submit to a criminal background check (instructions provided upon offer of the position). Previous experience in food service, culinary arts, or related field preferred. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot kitchen environment. Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by camp schedule. Desire to serve.
