The Cook Assistant supports the Head Cook in the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals in a professional kitchen setting at the assigned remote camp on the North Slope of Alaska. Responsible for adhering to food safety and sanitation standards and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment. Work Location: Remote Camp, North Slope, Alaskavaries by job siteWork shifts: Travel: Flights between Anchorage and the job site are arranged and paid for by the companyHousing & Meals: Included (free)Monitor food quality and freshness.Maintain foods at proper temperature while utilizing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles for the provision of safe and sanitary food.Assist with ordering and inventory.Assist the Head Cook in kitchen operations.May help train new kitchen staff.Build and maintain good public relations with the clients, residents, and co-workers.High school diploma or equivalentOne to two years of experience in quantity food productionState of Alaska Food Worker CardAble to proficiently speak, read, understand and write EnglishReliable access to a smartphone capable of running apps for scheduling, timekeeping (clocking in/out), shift communications, and time-off requestsCertified Professional Food ManagerCulinary training from an accredited culinary institute or managementPrior remote site experienceWork is performed in a commercial kitchen within a remote campAbility to remain on your feet for long shifts and perform repetitive physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.Willingness to work day or night shift.Must be comfortable living and working in a remote location with shared housing accommodations and communal facilities.Strict adherence to safety, hygiene, and conduct standardsCompetitive wages and lots of overtime due to the 12-hour shift scheduleBenefits: medical, dental & vision; 401(k) with company match, life insurance, and otherThe rotational schedule provides approximately 6 months off each year, offering significant time for rest, travel and personal commitments.
