Role Description: The Judicial Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Columbus, OH, supporting judicial officers and court operations in the Domestic Relations and Juvenile Branch. This role prepares, reviews, and organizes legal documents and case files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court standards. The Judicial Assistant manages calendars, schedules hearings, coordinates court proceedings, and maintains effective communication with judges, attorneys, court staff, and the public. Daily responsibilities include providing administrative support such as drafting correspondence, updating case management systems, maintaining records, and handling confidential information with discretion. The role also assists in courtroom preparation, monitors case progress, and helps ensure proceedings run efficiently and in accordance with court procedures.
Qualifications: Knowledge of Law and Judicial processes sufficient to understand court operations and support judges effectively. Experience with Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing pleadings, orders, and other court documents. Familiarity with Court Proceedings, including scheduling, case flow management, and courtroom protocols. Strong Administrative Assistance skills, including calendar management, recordkeeping, data entry, and professional correspondence. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with diverse court users. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with office software, case management systems, and willingness to learn new technologies used by the Court. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, legal studies, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Prior experience in a court, legal office, or public sector environment is preferred.
