Summary/Description:
TheUIC Retzky College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice is seeking afull-time, motivated professional for the position of Clinical Faculty (OpenRank)/Clinical Pharmacist, Coordinator, Hospital Pharmacy Services who will beassigned to UI Health's Central Pharmacy. Theideal candidate will work within the Hospital Pharmacy Operations and team andwill be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients at the University of Illinois Hospital. The hospital is a 450-bed academic institutionlocated approximately 2 miles west of downtown Chicago. The hospital serves anurban, indigent patient population. The Retzky College of Pharmacy, with campuses in Chicago and Rockford, is the#1 college of pharmacy in Illinois and #6 in total research grant funding, according to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Moreinformation about the College and Department of Pharmacy Practice can be foundat https://pharmacy.uic.edu and https://dpp.pharmacy.uic.edu.Duties:Overseecompliance with USP, USP, state and federalregulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies. Provideleadership and day-to-day support to pharmacists and pharmacy techniciansworking in sterile compounding areas. Monitor andmaintain cleanroom environmental controls, including temperature, humidity, pressure differentials, certification schedules, andenvironmental monitoring programs. Develop, review, and maintain cleanroom policies, procedures, workflows, and documentation. Lead qualityassurance and quality improvement initiatives related to sterilecompounding, cleanroom practices, and medication safety. Investigatecleanroom deviations, contamination events, sterility concerns, andmedication-related incidents; implement corrective and preventive actionsas needed. Ensure properinventory management of cleanroom supplies, hazardous drug products, sterile compounding materials, and equipment. Conduct routineaudits of compounding records, cleaning logs, environmental monitoringresults, and staff documentation to ensure compliance. Analyzeoperational metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, regulatory compliance, and customer service. Assist withimplementation of new technologies, workflows, medications, and servicesrelated to sterile and hazardous drug compounding. Participate inregulatory inspections, accreditation surveys, and internal audits, including preparation of required documentation and corrective actionplans. Serve as asubject matter expert and resource for sterile compounding, cleanroomoperations, hazardous drug handling, and pharmacy regulatory requirements. Coordinatorresponsibilities include, but are not limited to: Coordinate dailysterile compounding and cleanroom operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant medication preparation. Coordinatecontent development and training activities for pharmacy specificeducational and clinical programs targeted for students, residents, fellows, and faculty; areas of focus include clinical skill development, provision of clinical pharmacy services, experiential education andcritical thinking/problem solving. Responsible forall pharmacy operational, educational, clinical, and business aspects forareas of responsibility; these include addressing and coordinating patientmanagement issues; fiscal operations; scheduling; staff recruiting, orientation, training and development; monitoring workflow; and ensuringappropriate pharmacist and technical staffing in patient care areas. Ensurecompliance with pharmacy specific standards such as Accreditation Councilfor Pharmacy Education (ACPE), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act 1996 (HIPAA), The Joint Commission (TJC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).Institute/coordinatequality control mechanisms to ensure the availability and appropriate useof pharmaceuticals, including investigational drugs; utilize continuousquality improvement in this process; oversee medication management in the Hospital Pharmacy Services. Evaluate andimplement new departmental pharmacy information systems to maximizeefficiency and achieve the goals of the unit. Coordinateequipment maintenance, calibration, certification, and repair activitiesfor cleanroom and compounding devices. Coordinatepersonnel training, competency assessments, and ongoing education forpharmacists and pharmacy technicians involved in sterile compounding.
Minimum Qualifications:
- PharmD degreefrom an ACPE accredited Doctor of Pharmacy Program.
- Completion ofPost Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) pharmacy residency required.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience ina hospital pharmacy setting and/or leadership role in lieu of completionof a post graduate year 1 residency and/or fellowship
- Must presentevidence of, or eligibility for, Illinois licensure as a professionalpharmacist by start date.
- Must possessknowledge and skills such that they qualify for a non-tenured clinicalfaculty position within the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the UICCollege of Pharmacy. Academic rank commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of USP, USP, sterile compounding practices, and cleanroom operations. Strong clinical knowledge base; analytical and problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to consistently meet deadlines; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work independently and adapt to a changing work environment; excellent planning, time management and organizational skills.
