Special Education Job Coach Driver – Transition ProgramLocations: Newtown / DanburyStarting Date: ImmediatelySalary: Drivers Wage $27.19 / HourResponsibilitiesReport to the Transition Coordinator and Supervisor of Pupil ServicesSupport and supervise students (18 to 22 year olds) individually and/or in small groups in the classroom and in community vocational worksitesUnder the direction of the Special Education / Transition Coordinator, implement and support student needs within the community and daily functional living skillsTeach and continually evaluate student skills and abilities at worksites and assist with appropriate learning strategies when necessaryConsistently work to improve student independenceMaintain progress notes and assess level of performance both in the community, worksite and/or classroomDrive Program vehicle (school transit van with up to 15 seating capacity) for morning or afternoon home/school pickup/drop off or during the day in community when requiredMaintain strict confidentiality at all timesQualificationsCollege degree in education, psychology, human services, or related field preferredIn lieu of degree, minimum of three (3) years of related experience working in special education, vocational or life skills program or directly with individuals with intellectual or other disabilities is requiredValid CT driver's licenseAlready possess a CT "V" driving endorsementMust be able to work harmoniously with others to encourage and enhance student performance and the team processThe Newtown Public School District values the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to our students and community.
