Job Title: Chemist I
Job Duration: 6 Months Contract – W2
Job Location: 111 Terminal Ave., Clark, NJ 07066
Note: On Site 5 days a week. 6 months with possibility of extension up to 2 years pending budget
Description: Seeking a candidate with hands‑on experience in cosmetic characterization or a closely related field such as personal care, food science, or chemical product evaluation. Pharmaceutical/quality. The ideal candidate is comfortable performing stability studies and physicochemical measurements across a wide range of cosmetic formats. Candidate Personality & Work Style: Attention to detail — highly observant, precise, and consistent in measurements. Clear communication — able to document and relay results cleanly. Optimization mindset — seeks efficiency and continuous improvement. Autonomous work habits — able to manage tasks independently. Data accuracy — rigorous in recording, organizing, and validating data. Lab readiness — comfortable with instruments, SOPs, and new techniques. Positive, cooperative attitude with willingness to learn emerging tools and methods. Required Skills & Background: Bachelor’s degree + 2 years’ experience, or QC/Physical Measurements certification/diploma. Technical research experience in a laboratory setting. Strong math/science foundation. Methodical and organized approach to testing and documentation. Rigor and critical thinking in analysis and reporting. Team‑oriented with a constructive feedback mindset. Cosmetic Characterization–Specific Skills pH measurement — calibration, sampling, drift control. Rheology — viscometer/rheometer operation, flow curves, yield stress. Microscopy — droplet size, emulsion structure, particle distribution. Stability testing — temperature cycling, centrifugation, freeze–thaw, long‑term monitoring. Appearance & viscosity evaluation — color, gloss, phase separation, texture.
Key Responsibilities: Physicochemical characterization of haircare and cosmetic products following defined protocols and quality criteria. pH, viscosity, rheology, microscopy, appearance, foam behavior, etc. Maintain full traceability from sample intake to data delivery, ensuring clean documentation and version control. Maintain stability records, update databases, and flag anomalies or trends. Contribute to workflow optimization, proposing improvements to testing cadence, data handling, and instrument utilization.
