Successful candidates are expected to develop visible, externally funded research programs to address research priorities inmeasurement science. The department seeks scientists who develop new quantitative tools, instrumentation, and measurement approaches that answer previously inaccessible chemical, physical, and/or biological questions in any area related to chemistry. In addition to ensemble approaches, research directions may include measurements that resolve chemical and biological heterogeneity across individual molecules, particles, cells, and beyond. This initiative is intended to grow a nationally distinctive community around interdisciplinary quantitative measurement to these system from single molecules and nanoparticles to living systems, enabled by advances in instrumentation, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, microscopy, and machine learning.
Appointments would begin August 1, 2027, although an earlier or later start date is negotiable. Applications received byOctober 16, 2026, will receive full consideration, and applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.
