Who We Are:
Calypsis is a mission-focused technology consulting firm specializing in digital transformation services that support the United States Government. We understand that every organization faces unique challenges, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. By integrating modern technology, strategic project management, and deep customer engagement, we develop innovative yet pragmatic solutions to complex problems that drive measurable impact and meaningful change. We partner closely with our customers to modernize critical systems and environments, deliver outcomes that advance their objectives, and ultimately Ignite Their Mission.
What You'll Do:
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will support high-impact modernization and transformation initiatives for our federal customer. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, helping bridge the gap between mission needs, business objectives, and solution delivery. You will collaborate closely with government leaders, program managers, technical teams, and end users to understand challenges, gather and refine requirements, analyze business processes, and architect innovative yet pragmatic solutions that drive meaningful outcomes. The ideal candidate is a low-friction, high-output team player who thrives in dynamic environments and takes ownership of delivering results. You are equally comfortable facilitating strategic discussions, engaging with senior leaders, documenting business and functional requirements, developing executive-level communications, and driving initiatives from concept through implementation. Most importantly, you bring a solutions-oriented mindset, a bias for action, and a willingness to do what it takes to help our customers succeed.
Responsibilities:
Partner with customers, stakeholders, and end users to identify mission needs, business objectives, operational pain points, and modernization opportunities. Lead requirements elicitation and discovery activities through stakeholder interviews, workshops, working groups, process walkthroughs, and user engagement sessions. Analyze, document, and refine business, functional, and operational requirements to ensure alignment with customer needs and strategic objectives. Translate customer requirements into actionable user stories, epics, features, acceptance criteria, process flows, and solution backlogs. Collaborate with stakeholders and delivery teams to architect innovative yet pragmatic solutions that address business challenges and drive mission outcomes. Develop current-state and future-state business process models, operating concepts, service blueprints, customer journeys, and transformation roadmaps. Create personas, journey maps, workflows, business rules, and use cases to support solution design and delivery. Facilitate Agile planning activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, prioritization sessions, demonstrations, and stakeholder reviews. Support the full solution delivery lifecycle from discovery and concept development through implementation, user acceptance, and operational transition. Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, product owners, program leadership, and technical teams to ensure successful execution and delivery. Develop executive briefings, strategic communications, concept papers, decision documents, and status reports for senior leadership. Identify risks, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, and opportunities while proactively driving issue resolution and stakeholder alignment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a related field. Must possess an active Public Trust clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance. Must reside within the Washington, DC metropolitan area (DMV) and be available to support customer engagements as required. 5+ years of experience in business analysis, management consulting, digital transformation, strategic planning, program support, or related disciplines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess business challenges and develop practical solutions. Experience working within Agile, iterative, or product-oriented delivery environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop executive-level presentations, briefings, reports, and decision documents. Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams. Proven ability to build trusted relationships in a customer-facing environment. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving customer requirements.
Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on experience supporting the implementation of Appian-based solutions.
