Job Description
Electrical Harness Assembly Technician:
We are seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to manufacture and inspect electrical wire harnesses according to technical drawings, production documentation, and customer requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with wire preparation, crimping, soldering, and precision assembly, along with the ability to meet strict dimensional and workmanship standards. Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and aerospace manufacturing requirements is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and assembly instructions.
Review production travelers to confirm part numbers, revision levels, quantities, and documentation accuracy.
Examine incoming materials and components for damage, defects, or discrepancies.
Prepare wires and cables by cutting, removing jackets, and stripping insulation.
Crimp 8–28 AWG wire using stamped and machined contacts and appropriate tooling.
Perform hand soldering, including wire tinning and working with both leaded and lead-free solder.
Recognize and distinguish between leaded and lead-free solder materials.
Apply potting materials to boots, connectors, breakouts, and other assembly components.
Assemble harnesses to specified measurements and maintain required tolerances.
Follow IPC/WHMA-A-620 and applicable customer, industry, and internal quality standards.
Complete and sign off on traveler documentation at each designated production stage.
Label, identify, and package finished assemblies and components according to established procedures.
Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety requirements.
Follow company policies, quality procedures, and applicable workplace safety guidelines.
Perform additional production duties as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency with hand tools, inspection instruments, and precision measuring devices.
Ability to understand technical drawings, electrical schematics, and assembly specifications.
Experience using wire-stripping equipment, crimping machines, and manual assembly tools.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and adequate vision and hearing for assembly and inspection tasks.
Basic knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship requirements.
Foundational soldering skills and familiarity with wire harness assembly processes.
Willingness to follow company procedures, quality requirements, and safety policies.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in electrical assembly, wire harness manufacturing, or a related production environment.
Previous work in contract manufacturing is preferred.
Aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.
One year of soldering experience required.
One year of wire harness assembly experience required.
IPC/WHMA-A-620 experience preferred.
J-STD-001 certification preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Comfortable standing or walking for extended periods.
Ability to remain seated while completing detailed, workstation-based assembly tasks.
Capable of performing repetitive hand movements and other physical tasks associated with precision manufacturing.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Report to work fit for duty and free from impairment caused by alcohol, drugs, or other substances.
Participate in workplace safety initiatives and promptly report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents.
PayLevel I - $20-$24/hour
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday
Available start times – will work 8 hours from the start6:00 am6:30 am7:00 am7:30 am
