About BroganBrogan is an elite boutique New York law firm that advises companies, investors, and financial institutions on matters involving corporate law, finance, restructuring, and regulation. The firm represents clients in transactions, financings, strategic matters, and regulated financial markets.
The Opportunity: Brogan is establishing a bankruptcy and restructuring practice and is seeking an experienced Bankruptcy & Restructuring Group Leader to lead the team. The role carries responsibility for the practice’s matters, clients, strategy, and development, with the opportunity to shape its direction and market presence from inception. The successful candidate will be expected to exercise the judgment, independence, and client-management skills appropriate to a practice leadership role, supported by the firm’s established corporate, finance, and regulatory capabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead representations of creditors, investors, debtors, and other stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings, restructurings, and distressed transactions
  • Develop and execute case strategy from engagement through resolution
  • Draft and argue pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings
  • Lead negotiations with creditors, committees, counterparties, and other stakeholders
  • Advise on restructuring issues arising in connection with corporate transactions, financings, and regulated businesses
  • Develop the firm’s restructuring client base and practice
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop attorneys as the practice grows
  • Qualifications5–7 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience at an Am Law 50 or comparable firmJ.D. degree from an accredited law school and current admission to the New York Bar in good standing
  • Strong knowledge of secured transactions, creditor rights, intercreditor arrangements, and complex capital structures
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
  • Sound professional judgment and demonstrated ability to take responsibility for complex matters
  • Strong client-management and communication skills
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience representing financial institutions, lenders, investors, or other sophisticated participants in complex or distressed matters
  • Experience involving fintech, payments, digital assets, trading, or other regulated financial businesses
  • Experience supervising or mentoring attorneys
  • Compensation$200,000–$300,000 base salary, profit sharing, and a comprehensive benefits package
