About the role

Special Education Teacher Join River Rock Academy, a Pennsylvania Department of Education approved licensed academic school and private provider, dedicated to empowering students in Grades 1-12 through transformative educational services. Our programs for Elementary, Secondary Special Education, and Alternative Education offer specialized instruction, test preparation, counseling, and social skills development. With individualized transition plans and a focus on stability and personal growth, we celebrate student success and foster an environment of trust and support, helping each student reach their full potential.
Responsibilities: Teach multiple subject areas. Maintain student confidentiality per agency policy. Monitor student progress through tracking and assessing student development, making necessary adjustments to keep them on the path to success. Manage challenging behaviors and implement behavior support plans when needed. Work closely with paraprofessionals, support staff, and parents to build a supportive, inclusive learning environment. Advocate for students ensuring compliance with educational laws and advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities. Create a positive and engaging learning space where every student feels supported and can thrive.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in special education, education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for Special Education, demonstrated by patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.
  • Work Skills:
  • Ability to respond to crisis interventions and use approved Safe Crisis Management techniques as required.
