Senior Agentic Software Engineer

Overview In this role you will design, build, secure, and operate mission-focused software systems and data platforms using agentic and AI-enabled methods. You will prototype capabilities, advise sponsors on adoption, and establish guardrails for responsible use. You will lead architectural decisions, drive engineering process improvements, and manage both sustained programs and urgent tasks. Compensation / Benefitscompetitive benefitsmeaningful career developmentculture of innovationcollaboration-focused environmentmission-driven workon-site work arrangement Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and deploy mission software and data platforms using agentic/AI-assisted workflows with clear human accountability Stand up and operate agentic development toolchains integrated into standard engineering practices Rapidly prototype mission capabilities and mature them into production-grade systems Define and enforce guardrails for agentic engineering (tools, data handling, secrets, provenance, auditability, safe prompting)Establish evaluation and quality gates for AI-generated artifacts (tests, security analysis, CI checks, acceptance criteria)Architect, build, and operate distributed cloud systems (AWS/multi-cloud) with performance, resilience, cost, and troubleshooting considerations Design and integrate APIs, backend services, data flows; build data pipelines and orchestration where applicable Automate Dev Sec Ops and CI/CD with AI-aware controls and policy-as-code Produce and maintain documentation, runbooks, and compliance-ready evidence for AI-assisted engineering including observability integrations Key requirements Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a Master’s degree, or PhD with relevant experience Strong software engineering fundamentals and Python proficiency, including secure coding, code review, automated testing Hands-on experience with agentic/AI-assisted development tools and integrating them into SDLCExperience designing guardrails for AI-enabled engineering and ensuring policy/compliance constraints Experience establishing quality/evaluation practices for AI-generated outputs Leadership/enablement skills: mentoring, setting standards, advising on responsible adoption and change management Active Secret U.S. Government security clearance and eligibility for Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizen On-site presence required a minimum of 3 days per weekentrepreneurial spiritcollaborative mindsetmentoring and stakeholder advising Pythonagentic/AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, code agents, test generation, PR review automation)AI/LLM governance, prompts, provenance, and auditability
