What You'll Do: Collect blood samples using venipuncture, finger stick, and other approved collection techniquesAccurately identify patients and verify laboratory orders in the electronic medical record (EMR) Prepare, label, and process specimens for in-house and outside reference laboratory testingPerform authorized in-house laboratory testing and accurately document results in the EMRReview laboratory orders and ensure appropriate collection materials and techniques are usedIdentify and report discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor and ordering providerFollow established protocols for specimen handling, processing, and storageParticipate in quality assurance monitoring and maintain required laboratory logsPerform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment and maintain a clean, safe work environmentFollow infection control procedures and properly dispose of biohazard wasteMaintain compliance with HIPAA, CLIA, Joint Commission, and applicable clinic requirementsProvide positive, professional, and proactive customer service to patients and team membersRotate between clinic locations as neededComplete required training and job-specific competenciesPerform other duties as assignedWhat We're Looking For: High school diploma or equivalent 1+ year of phlebotomy experience or Phlebotomy certificationKnowledge of phlebotomy techniques, specimen processing, and laboratory equipment, including centrifuge use and maintenanceCPR/Heartsaver certification or ability to successfully complete certification within 6 months of employmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsStrong computer skills, including MS OfficeAbility to work evenings and Saturday clinics on a rotating basisValid Texas driver's license (or ability to obtain) and reliable transportationAbility to travel/rotate between clinic locationsMust comply with GCHD immunization policy and ICS training requirementsMust pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screeningPreferredQualifications: Phlebotomy certificationBilingual in SpanishAdditional job-related training or certificationsExperience working with electronic medical records (EMR) Previous experience in a clinical or laboratory settingEquivalent education and experience may be considered.
