Operating Room Registered Nurse

Memorial Hermann Health System seeks a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room – Weekend Days. This role provides safe, evidence-based perioperative nursing care, including pre-op assessment, intraoperative support, and post-anesthesia transition. The RN collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes, maintains sterile technique, and manages surgical equipment and documentation. Provide perioperative nursing care for surgical patients on weekend day shifts Perform pre-operative assessments and verify consents, histories, and orders Maintain sterile technique and support surgeons and anesthesia providers intraoperatively Monitor patient status, vitals, and responses to anesthesia and interventions Administer medications and manage IVs per physician orders and nursing protocols Operate and troubleshoot OR equipment and ensure proper instrument counts Document care accurately in the electronic health record Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Educate patients and families on procedures and post-op expectations Adhere to safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards Perioperative nursing care Intraoperative patient monitoring Sterile technique and infection control Medication administration and IV management Use of OR instruments and equipment Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Patient and family education Interdisciplinary team collaboration Critical thinking and clinical decision-making Knowledge of perioperative safety and regulations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained within timeframe Operating Room nursing or perioperative certification (CNOR) preferred Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
