Ritter Maher Architects is looking for an Associate Architect to join our newly established Dallas office in the West End.
RMA is a boutique architecture and design firm with a broad portfolio and a strong reputation for thoughtful design, responsive service, and close collaboration with our clients. As we continue to grow our presence in North Texas, we are looking for someone who wants to do more than simply fill a production role.
This is an opportunity to help establish an office, shape its culture, and grow with it.
We are looking for an emerging architectural professional with approximately 1–5 years of experience who is interested in pursuing licensure, developing into a project leader, and gaining meaningful exposure to the full life cycle of a project.
At RMA, we want our Associate Architects immersed in projects from Day One to Day 365.
That means involvement from programming and early design through documentation, consultant coordination, permitting, construction administration, and project closeout. As experience and judgment develop, so does responsibility and ownership.

What You’ll Do:
Produce and coordinate architectural drawings, models, schedules, presentations, and construction documents
Participate in projects from early design through construction and closeout
Develop an understanding of RMA standards, workflows, quality-control practices, and project delivery
Coordinate increasingly complete work packages from initial direction through internal review
Participate directly in client, consultant, contractor, and project team meetings
Track project decisions, consultant information, deadlines, and coordination items
Coordinate architectural work with structural, civil, MEP, interiors, and other disciplines
Develop working knowledge of constructability, materials, codes, accessibility, budgets, and client objectives
Participate in permitting, site visits, construction administration, and project closeout
Identify conflicts, missing information, and coordination issues early and communicate them to project leadership
Take increasing ownership of projects and project components as experience and judgment develop
Contribute to the growth and culture of RMA’s Dallas office
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
Approximately 1–5 years of professional architectural experience
Experience with Revit and architectural documentation
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
A willingness to take initiative and become involved beyond traditional production responsibilities
Interest in pursuing architectural licensure and continued professional development
Curiosity, adaptability, responsiveness, and a willingness to learn
Someone who enjoys working collaboratively in a smaller, entrepreneurial studio environment
Growth at RMA This role is designed to grow with the individual.
Early responsibilities may focus on producing reliable deliverables, developing technical knowledge, and learning RMA’s project standards and workflows.
As competency grows, the role expands into ownership of complete work packages, consultant coordination, direct client interaction, project decision-making, and leadership of major project phases or smaller projects.
RMA values demonstrated growth in technical ability, judgment, communication, coordination, reliability, and client confidence.
Why RMA Dallas? Our Dallas office offers something different from a traditional large-firm environment.
You will work closely with firm leadership, gain broad exposure to the business and practice of architecture, and have a front-row seat as we continue building RMA’s presence in North Texas.
The Dallas office is located in the historic West End of Downtown Dallas, providing an urban studio environment while giving our growing team the opportunity to establish its own identity within the broader RMA practice.
If you are looking for a place where you can learn the full business of architecture, pursue licensure, take increasing ownership, and help build something from the ground up, we would like to hear from you.
