Newsreel is a news source for people who have given up on the news, where vetted journalists and subject matter experts publish and build their audience. Our mission is to build a healthier alternative to the feed for writers and readers. We also throw phone-free nights about the news. On Oct. 29, five days before the midterms, about 300 people put their phones away in Greenpoint for Midterm Mania. We're planning a large expansion of our event series for 2027 and are looking for someone to come in on the ground floor in a part-time role with equity and grow it into a full-time job.
The role:
Part-time contract, starting with a 90-day trial, about 10 to 15 hours a week, more near events. You can work remotely, but we prefer someone based in New York.
Pay:
$1,500 a month plus 15% of the new sponsor money you bring in, paid once collected. You will: Sell sponsorships, from the first pitch to the signed agreement and the recap afterward Plan and price the events calendar, and keep every night to a budget Book venues and vendors, and run the night with our team Work with Jack Brewster, our founder and CEO, on guests and programming Grow ticket sales and our list of people who come back You might be a fit if: You already use AI to do the boring work. This is a must. You've sold event sponsorships and can point to the deals you closed You've produced live events in New York for 200 or more people You can run a budget and know what each night made You follow the news and know why people would pay to talk about it in person Send a short note with one event you ran and what it made or cost.
