Senior Software Engineer II, Developer Experience

Overview As a Senior Software Engineer II on the Dev Ex team, you help build and operate Carta’s AI-native development infrastructure. You’ll shape MCP servers, agents, and tooling that power developer workflows, enabling fast, reliable delivery. You’ll design CI/CD patterns and guardrails, mentor peers, and raise the technical bar across R&D. Compensation / Benefitsmarket competitive salaryequity for all full-time rolesexceptional benefitscommissions plans where applicable Responsibilities Build MCP servers, agents, and plugin infrastructure for AI-native development Design and ship purpose-built agents to solve specific developer problems Architect and drive CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment Build the infrastructure AI tooling runs on to empower other engineers Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through code reviews and architectural guidance Key requirements 8+ years in platform, backend, or fullstack engineering Experience shipping production LLM systems (MCP servers, AI extensions, connectors, or agents)Platform mindset with API and developer ergonomics focus Proficiency in Python or JavaCI/CD tooling experience (CircleCI, Git Hub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, Docker)Cloud-native experience (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes)Familiarity with secrets management tooling (Vault, Cloudsmith) is a plus Security-aware design including least-privilege and token lifecycle considerations Ability to break down ambiguous problems and own outcomes end-to-endownership and accountabilitymentoring and technical leadershipdata-driven decision making Python or Java CircleCIGit Hub Actions
