An immediate travel contract opening is available for an experienced Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer / Pediatric Echo Tech in Fairfax, Virginia (Northern Virginia / Washington D.C. metro area). Operating within a specialized Children's Cardiology clinic and acute pediatric critical care environment, this position features a desirable 5x8 daytime schedule (08:00 AM – 17:00 PM / 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, 40 guaranteed weekly hours). NO ON-CALL REQUIRED! NO WEEKENDS! CLOSED ON MAJOR HOLIDAYS! The role encompasses comprehensive congenital echocardiographic evaluations across outpatient clinics and acute inpatient pediatric units (covering NICU, PICU, and Cardiac ICU). Day shifts, 5x8-Hours (08:00 AM – 17:00 PM / 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday).Guaranteed Hours: 40 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
Contract Duration:
Through January 16, 2027.Weekend & Holiday Coverage: NO WEEKENDS! Closed on major holidays! On-Call Requirements: NO ON-CALL REQUIRED!Clinical Setting & Department: Children's Cardiology (outpatient suite and hospital coverage). Unit utilizes 4 scanners. Inpatient Coverage Units: Provides pediatric echo coverage to the Neonatal ICU (NICU), Pediatric ICU (PICU), and Pediatric Cardiac ICU.Clinical Scope & Procedures: Comprehensive diagnostic transthoracic echocardiography spanning congenital and unusual non-congenital pediatric heart disease. Fetal echocardiography studies (22+ weeks gestation) and adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) scans. Rapid triage and immediate recognition of emergent cardiac pathologies. Formulating detailed technical preliminary reports for review with attending Pediatric Cardiologists. Equipment maintenance, transducer care, exam logging, and accurate procedure billing. Equipment & Systems: Philips ultrasound systems; EMR: Epic; PACS: Fuji CV Synapse. Orientation & Scrubs: 1–2 weeks of structured floor orientation; Scrub color is Caribbean Blue. REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of dedicated clinical pediatric echocardiography experience with extensive knowledge of complex congenital heart defects. Certifications Required (Documents in hand):ARDMS Certification (RDCS or RCS).American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).Preferred Registries & Skills: ARDMS PE (Pediatric Echocardiography) credential strongly preferred; Fetal Echocardiography (FE) competency highly encouraged; Adult Congenital Echo experience is a plus.

Resume must clearly document at least 1 year of pediatric congenital echocardiography experience. Facility Cancellation Policy: Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts on assignments of 13 weeks or longer. Uniform requirement: Caribbean Blue scrubs. All Requested Time Off (RTO) must be presented upfront with the submittal packet.
