Senior Azure Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: New York, NY (10022)| Hybrid (3 days onsite)

6+ Month Contract or Contract-to-HireAbout the RoleOur client is looking for a senior, hands-on Azure infrastructure engineer to join a growing cloud team and take ownership of key infrastructure work. Their Azure environment is actively being built out, and they need someone who can come in, understand what's in place, and start building with minimal hand-holding. Your first priority will be helping complete an Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) initiative that is nearing the finish line. From there, you'll take on broader Azure infrastructure work as they move toward infrastructure as code and modern deployment practices, including our build-out of GitHub Enterprise. This is a hands-on engineering role, not a pure architecture or administration position. You'll be building, automating, and troubleshooting.
What You'll Do:
- Design, build, and manage Azure resources, subscriptions, and platform services
- Help complete and support an in-progress Azure Virtual Desktop deployment
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code, primarily using Terraform
- Take ownership of tasks end to end, working independently in an evolving environment
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and dig into Azure services you may not have worked with before
- Support development teams with infrastructure and application deployments
- Contribute to the adoption of GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD practices for infrastructure deployment
- What You Bring
- Several years of hands-on Azure infrastructure engineering experience
- Experience building and managing Azure resources, subscriptions, and platform services
- Hands-on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) experience
- Infrastructure as code experience, with Terraform strongly preferred (Bicep or similar tools also considered)A strong preference for building through code over manual configuration
- Proven ability to work independently, take a task and run with it, and solve problems without extensive direction
- Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort learning new technologies quickly

- AKS / Kubernetes and DockerGitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and self-hosted runnersCI/CD pipeline experience
- Azure networking
- Azure landing zones
- Microsoft Fabric
Experience with additional Azure servicesA Note on FitThey are not looking for someone who is an expert in every technology listed above. They're building a team over time, and value strong core Azure infrastructure skills, sound engineering judgment, and an ability to figure things out over checking every box. If you're a strong Azure engineer with AVD and IaC experience, we encourage you to apply even if you don't have all the nice-to-haves.
