Role Overview:
A Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a focus on oncology provides comprehensive hematology and oncology care in collaboration with physicians and a multidisciplinary team. The role involves patient assessment, prescribing medications and treatments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and assisting in clinical trials eligibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess physical and psychosocial patient status through interviews, exams, and studies.
Prescribe medications, blood products, and therapeutic measures following protocols.
Determine patient eligibility for clinical trials based on findings.
Interpret lab and test results, communicate care plans with physicians.
Document patient history, progress, discharge notes, and follow-up summaries.
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, provide hospital coverage, and triage urgent cases.
Assist in managing family dynamics, provide patient education, and support during crises.
Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and privacy regulations, maintaining confidentiality.
Contribute to team training, promote cancer treatments, and work across multiple locations as needed.
Qualifications & SkillsGraduate of an accredited NP or PA program with a Master's degree.
Active licensure and prescriptive privileges in the relevant state; current certification (ANCC or ONS), BLS required.
Minimum 5 years of oncology experience preferred.
Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
