Job Summary:
The dietitian plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to up-to-date clinical standards and judgment. They perform as a member of the multidisciplinary care team and act as a liaison between the dietary patient services staff and the medical team. Responsibilities include screening newly admitted patients to identify those at nutritional risk, completing nutritional assessments on in-patient units, and adhering to departmental policies and procedures. The role requires independent judgment under the supervision of the Patient Experience Manager/Clinical Nutrition Manager and General Manager of Food and Nutrition Services.
Required Qualifications:
Proficiency with Office PCs, desktops, and laptop software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Familiarity with menu management software and electronic medical systems, specifically CBORD and Meditech.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple tasks.
Good interpersonal and communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Physical ability to stand, walk, talk, sit, hear, lift, and bend for prolonged periods.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university.
Completion of an ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD).Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Completion of an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) with a minimum of 1,000 supervised practice hours.
- Proof of passing the national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) with current Registered Dietitian status.
- Participation in continuing education requirements to maintain registration (15 continuing education credits annually).Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
- Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist (CDN) in the state of New York.
