Job Summary:
The Medical Transcriptionist interprets and transcribes the dictation into patient history, exam notes, operative reports, referral letters, and other documents that may be requested. As the Medical Transcriptionist, it is important to follow patient confidentiality guidelines and legal documentation requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Perform data entry and data retrieval services, providing data for inclusion in medical records and transmission to physicians
- Produce medical reports, correspondence, records, patient-care information, statistics, medical research, and administrative material
- Translate medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of patient records
- Review and edit transcribed reported or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology
- Perform a variety of clerical tasks, such as submitting insurance claims, typing, filing, and operating office machines
- Other duties as assigned
- EducationHigh School Degree or GEDAssociate’s Degree in Medical Transcription (preferred, not required)
Certifications:
Certified Medical Transcriptionist (preferred, not required) Experience Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (preferred, not required) Range
Minimum: $19.03
Maximum: $28.54

- Strong communication and organization skills
- Ability to listen intently to recordings for details
- Ability to provide error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
