About the role

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Inspector to support municipal infrastructure projects by conducting field inspections and ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining quality, safety, and adherence to construction standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review project drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Conduct field inspections of construction sites
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents and technical requirements
  • Verify materials meet project specifications
  • Confirm proper notification to residents in affected areas
  • Issue correction notices and may serve violation citations
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
  • Research and evaluate plans and drawings
  • Prepare and submit technical reports
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required
Up to 18 months of education or training in inspection or related field preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of journey-level experience in inspection or related field
  • Preferred Certifications (may be required within 11 months)
  • Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, or Occupancy Inspection CertificationsICBO, IAPMO, IAEA, or equivalent certificationsQEI Elevator Inspector Certification (if applicable)
Required Skills: Strong attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to review:
  • Surveys
  • Floor plans
  • Site plansGIS or mapping systems
  • Proficiency in:
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, TeamsAdobeAdditional Requirements
  • Valid Texas Driver's License (may be required)
  • Strong customer service skills (phone, in-person, and email)
