Job Description:
This position is responsible for moving, lifting, stacking, and transporting materials throughout the facility and outdoor work areas. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy machinery, be comfortable working in an industrial environment, and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other heavy machinery
- Load, unload, move, stack, and organize materials and pallets throughout the facility
- Transport steel plates, cut parts, and raw materials between work areas and outdoor storage locations
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Monitor equipment and report any abnormal conditions or maintenance concerns to supervision
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Stay alert to forklift traffic, cranes, and other moving equipment throughout the facility
- Properly select, wear, and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report safety hazards and unsafe conditions promptly
- Attend monthly shop and safety meetings
- Follow supervisor instructions and company processes
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months of heavy machinery operating experience required
- Ability to drive manual transmission
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Reliable, dependable attendance record
- Strong organizational and basic math skills
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to work any shift as needed
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and varying temperatures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift operating experience
- Shipping and receiving experience
- Overhead crane experience
- Manufacturing, warehouse, steel, or industrial experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
- Ability to sit for extended periods while operating equipment
- Ability to climb in and out of forklifts and other machinery
- Ability to quickly respond to sounds, alarms, and surrounding activity
- Ability to recognize and respond to potentially hazardous situations
- Ability to properly wear required PPE at all times
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions
