About the role

Federal Financial Analyst - DOI Contract Support Chenhall Staffing has been awarded a contract to support the Office of Strategic Resources (OSR) at the Marine Minerals Administration (MMA), U.S. Department of the Interior, and is hiring a Financial Analyst to fill this role. This position is fully onsite in Sterling, VA (no remote option) and requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a federal background investigation. This role is best suited to candidates with direct federal contract or federal agency financial experience - not general corporate FP&A or investment analysis. If your background is primarily commercial, this likely isn't the right fit.
What You'll Do: Track fund execution - commitments, obligations, unobligated balances, and expenditures - across multiple programs and generate reports Prepare cost estimates, Purchase Request Worksheets (PRWs), life-cycle budget planning, and spend plan worksheets Review, enter, and validate financial data across spreadsheets and reports Pull data and generate reports using DOI's Financial Business Management System (FBMS) and BI Launchpad (training provided)Maintain financial reports and dashboards in Excel, Access, and Power BISupport contract execution for purchase orders and task orders through contracting and financial offices Review procurement documentation for compliance with FAR, DOI Acquisition Policy, and MMA acquisitions guidance Administrative Support Schedule and coordinate meetings; manage mail, shipments, and correspondence Review travel authorizations and vouchers per Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and DOI travel policy Support government purchase card documentation review Coordinate submissions into MMA's Document Tracking System (DTS)Document work processes as guides, tip sheets, and SOPsWhat You Bring 5+ years of relevant financial/administrative experience, ideally in a federal contracting or federal agency environment Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Working knowledge of federal financial and acquisition frameworks (FAR, DFAR, JTR, FIRMR, DoD 5000, or similar)Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Power Point, Excel, Access, Power BI, Share Point, Power Automate, Forms, and Copilot Experience with federal budget formulation, execution, or financial reporting Comfortable learning new government systems (FBMS, DTS) and adapting to evolving process guidance
Additional Requirements: U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a federal background investigation Onsite 5 days/week in Sterling, VA - no hybrid or remote option
