Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.Role Overview:Aeva is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing team! This individual will design our optoelectronic products and carry them through the entire product lifecycle. They will be a key member in the development of new products from concept to final builds, partnering with cross-functional teams along the way.What you'll be doing:Development of new products including execution on concept, design, drawings, vendor selection, part evaluation, and product buildsDeveloping cutting edge Silicon Photonics (SiP) optoelectronic devicesDevelopment of free space optics for optoelectronic devicesDetailed Tolerance Analyses of components and assemblies.Maintenance, design, testing, and improvement of existing productsProduct designs utilizing miniature optics, sub-micron alignments, and micron level passive placementsFixture design and development ranging from prototype to productionIntegration of mechanical, optical, and electrical componentsLead reviews of mechanical development activitiesInteracting with CMs and suppliers to provide mechanical support for manufacturing of parts and productsWhat you have: Minimum of BS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in related engineering rolesExperience with detail design, development and validation of mechanical assemblies for prototype volumes to mass manufacturingSolid understanding of design for assembly and integration in complex optoelectronic devices including tolerance stack analysisKnowledge in manufacturing processes for assembly of optoelectronic devices (die attach, wirebond, active alignment, hermetic sealing)Experience in design for manufacturing across the entire product life cycle from concept thru volume productionKnowledge of part manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, machining, thin film and thick film ceramics, and HTCC ceramics is desirableNice to have: Prototype and production equipment design experienceManufacturing experience of optoelectronic devicesGeometric optics knowledgeExperience in semiconductor packaging / assembly processes and design rulesWhat's in it for you: Be part of a fast paced and dynamic teamVery competitive compensation and meaningful stock grantsExceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and moreUnlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards$154,900 - $209,600 a yearSalary pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, certifications, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.These ranges are subject to change in the future.
