Job Description:
OVERVIEWWe are seeking an experienced Telecommunications Outside Plant Manager/Supervisor with a strong background in coaxial cable, hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC), and fiber-optic network construction and field operations. The successful candidate must have prior hands-on field experience working with both coax and fiber infrastructure, along with the ability to read and interpret coax, HFC, and fiber passive optical network (PON) maps and construction drawings. This position focuses on outside-plant field execution, construction support, crew supervision, quality control, and accurate documentation. This role will oversee field personnel and subcontractors, coordinate aerial and underground construction activities, and help ensure network buildouts are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with client specifications. This position requires travel 50% or more of the time and working from the Las Vegas site when not traveling.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead, supervise, train, and support outside-plant field personnel, construction crews, field inspectors, and subcontractors. Oversee aerial and underground construction, installation, maintenance, and upgrades involving coax, HFC, and fiber-optic infrastructure. Read and interpret coax distribution maps, HFC system maps, fiber route maps, PON buildout plans, construction drawings, staking sheets, cable schedules, and splice diagrams. Use construction maps and field documentation to identify cable routes, equipment locations, fiber assignments, splice locations, splitter locations, and work limits. Coordinate field activities involving coax cable, fiber cable, nodes, amplifiers, taps, cabinets, pedestals, poles, strand, conduit, handholes, and vaults. Conduct field walks and site inspections to verify existing infrastructure, assess construction readiness, and identify discrepancies between maps and actual field conditions. Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, clients, and subcontractors to resolve construction conflicts, route discrepancies, access issues, and other field conditions. Verify that crews follow approved construction plans, client specifications, installation standards, and applicable safety requirements. Monitor construction progress, crew productivity, material usage, workmanship, and project schedules. Support coordination of coax activation and troubleshooting, fiber splicing and testing, and network turnover activities. Review field redlines, as-built documentation, inspection reports, and closeout packages for accuracy and completeness. Track deficiencies, coordinate corrective work, and confirm punch-list completion before project closeout. Maintain clear communication with clients and project leadership regarding progress, field issues, staffing needs, and schedule impacts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS5+ years of telecommunications outside-plant experience involving coax, HFC, and fiber-optic infrastructure.2+ years of experience supervising field personnel, construction crews, subcontractors, or outside-plant operations. Prior hands-on field experience working with both coaxial cable and fiber-optic networks; office-only design experience does not satisfy this requirement. Demonstrated ability to read and interpret coax maps, HFC system maps, and fiber PON buildout maps and construction packages. Strong working knowledge of coax and HFC infrastructure, including nodes, amplifiers, taps, splitters, power supplies, and coax distribution cable. Strong understanding of fiber outside-plant infrastructure, including feeder and distribution cable, splice closures, cabinets, terminals, splitters, and fiber routing. Experience supporting aerial and underground construction, including cable placement, strand and lashing, conduit installation, pulling operations, trenching, and directional boring. Ability to verify field conditions against construction drawings, identify discrepancies, and communicate clear corrective actions. Experience reviewing construction quality, maintaining field redlines, and producing accurate as-built and closeout documentation. Ability to manage project schedules, production reporting, crew performance, quality control, and client communication. Working proficiency with digital construction maps, PDF markup tools, Microsoft Excel, and field reporting systems. Valid driver's license and ability to travel 50% or more of the time. Ability to work from the Las Vegas office or project site during the non-travel portion of the role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
FTTH design and telecommunications permitting experience is a plus but is not required. Experience supporting Comcast, Cox, Charter/Spectrum, Verizon, AT&T, Frontier, Lumen, TDS, or other major telecommunications providers. Experience with HFC plant upgrades, node splits, coax rebuilds, plant extensions, and network maintenance. Familiarity with coax splicing, connector installation, signal-level testing, sweep testing, leakage detection, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with fiber splicing, OTDR testing, optical power testing, and interpreting test results. Field experience supporting GPON or XGS-PON construction, including feeder and distribution routes, splitter locations, and terminal placement. Experience with aerial make-ready work, joint-use infrastructure, and utility coordination. Familiarity with GIS-based mapping platforms, Bluebeam, Procore, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project, or similar construction-management tools. OSHA 10/30 required and other relevant telecommunications, construction, or safety credentials a plus. Experience overseeing multiple markets, major-carrier programs, or high-volume outside-plant construction portfolios. Fluent in Spanish a plus.
