Line Cook- Cashier Private Boarding SchoolSAGE Dining Services is seeking a reliable, energetic, and customer-focused Retail Line Cook & Cashier to join our team at a private school in Wallingford, CT.At SAGE, we create exceptional dining experiences by serving fresh, delicious food in welcoming environments. Our culinary teams work together to provide safe, healthy, and varied menu options that reflect the tastes and preferences of each school community. If you enjoy preparing great food, interacting with customers, and working in a fast-paced environment, we'd love to meet you! This position offers the opportunity to work independently in a busy student center snack shop serving students, faculty, and staff during afternoons and evenings throughout most of the year. In this role, you'll split your time between food preparation and customer service, helping create a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for every guest.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare made-from-scratch favorites including burgers, chicken tenders, sandwiches, and other grill items
- Operate a flat-top grill and fryer safely and efficiently
- Prepare and stock fresh grab-and-go items
- Take customer orders and operate the point-of-sale system
- Handle credit card and mobile transactions accurately
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Restock products and keep the snack shop organized and inviting
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in food service, retail, or customer service preferred
- Experience operating a grill and fryer is highly desirable
- Comfortable using a point-of-sale system
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-first mindset
ScheduleTypical shifts are afternoons and evenings, generally ranging between 1:00 PM and 11:00 PM. We are happy to discuss availability and scheduling options during the interview process.

What you'll do:
Prepare assigned menu items in strict accordance with SAGE recipes, safety, and allergen policies that exceed our guests' expectations.
Ensure that all food is appropriately displayed and visually appealing.
Interact positively with SAGE guests and Team Members.
Use proper food handling, storage, and sanitation techniques (HAACP).
What you'll need:
Experience with cooking in a commercial kitchen.
Ability to understand and execute recipes and instructions in English.
Ability to interact with SAGE guests and Team Members in a professional and positive manner.
