About the role

A leading New York hedge fund is looking to hire an Associate to join its Credit COO team, directly supporting credit trading. This is a high-impact, front-office-facing role sitting at the intersection of trading, business management, controls, and technology. You will work directly with Portfolio Managers and Traders, taking ownership of critical trading processes and controls while identifying opportunities to improve workflows, scalability, and execution. We are looking for someone who is analytical, commercially minded, and technically curious - someone who enjoys getting into the detail, challenging how things are done, and turning problems into scalable solutions. This is an opportunity to gain broad exposure to a sophisticated trading platform and work alongside some of the firm's most senior investment and technology professionals.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee key trading controls and processes, monitoring daily activity, limits, exceptions, and control overrides across the Credit platform. Act as a senior escalation point for trading and operational issues, coordinating with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Operations, Middle Office, Legal, Treasury, and other stakeholders to drive timely resolution. Investigate incidents and recurring issues, identifying root causes and working with relevant teams to implement sustainable solutions. Develop a deep understanding of trading workflows and act as a subject matter expert on processes, controls, and issue management. Partner directly with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities to improve workflows, automate manual processes, and enhance trading infrastructure. Support centralized hedging activity across rates and FX, ensuring processes remain aligned with portfolio and risk requirements. Own or contribute to the onboarding of new investment professionals, ensuring they are effectively integrated into the firm's systems, workflows, and control environment. Coordinate the onboarding of new counterparties, working across Legal, Tax, Operations, and other control functions to ensure a smooth implementation. Lead and contribute to broader strategic projects designed to improve the scalability, efficiency, and control environment of the Credit business. Prepare clear analysis and recommendations for senior stakeholders, helping inform business and investment decisions. Background: 2-5 years of experience in a front-office, COO, business management, trade support, or business analyst capacity within financial services. Experience within Credit, Fixed Income, or another trading environment strongly preferred. Genuine understanding of financial markets, trading workflows, and investment products. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail. Advanced Excel skills; exposure to SQL, Python, Tableau, or other analytical/technical tools is advantageous. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear conclusions and recommendations. Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving trading environment. Experience working with project management or development tools such as Jira or Confluence is a plus. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Characteristics: You are intellectually curious. You want to understand how the trading business actually works, not simply follow an established process. You take ownership. When an issue arises, you coordinate the right people, identify the root cause, and make sure it gets fixed properly. You think commercially. You understand the priorities of a trading desk and can balance control, efficiency, and the needs of the investment team. You challenge the status quo. You naturally look for ways to remove friction, automate manual work, and make processes more scalable. You are technically minded. You enjoy working with data, systems, and engineers to turn business problems into better technology. You can operate under pressure. You are comfortable handling multiple live issues while maintaining exceptional attention to detail. You communicate exceptionally well. You can move seamlessly between Portfolio Managers, Traders, Engineers, and control functions and make complex problems easy to understand. For more information, please apply with your resume
