About the role

WE'RE HIRING: ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT / SUPERINTENDENTGenesis Construction of the Carolinas | Charlotte, NCSome people manage jobsites. Others build something bigger. We're looking for the second kind. At Genesis Construction of the Carolinas, we're not interested in hiring someone who simply wants to show up, manage subcontractors, check a few boxes, and call it a day. We're looking for a builder. A problem solver. Someone who takes pride in their work, earns the respect of their crew, and wants to leave their mark on something meaningful. Whether you're an experienced Superintendent ready for a new challenge or an ambitious Assistant Superintendent looking for your next big opportunity, we want to meet you. WHY GENESIS?We're a growing commercial construction company based in Charlotte, working on projects that make a difference across North and South Carolina. From schools and universities to municipal facilities and commercial developments, we're helping build the communities where people live, work, and learn. And we're just getting started. We're a company with the ambition to grow, the relationships to create opportunities, and the entrepreneurial mindset to do things differently. What makes Genesis different? At a large contractor, you might be one of dozens of Superintendents following a system someone else created. At Genesis, you'll have the opportunity to help shape how we build, lead, and grow. You'll work directly with experienced project managers and company leadership. Your ideas will be heard, your contributions will be visible, and your professional development will matter. We believe in giving good people the tools, trust, and authority to do their jobs. We don't want yes-people. We want people who think, challenge assumptions, solve problems, and make everyone around them better.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: You'll play a critical role in bringing our projects to life, from mobilization to the final punch list.
Your responsibilities will include: Leading and coordinating daily jobsite activities. Managing subcontractors, trades, and self-perform crews. Developing and maintaining short-term schedules and look-ahead plans. Coordinating manpower, materials, equipment, and deliveries. Maintaining a safe, organized, and productive jobsite. Monitoring quality and ensuring work meets project requirements. Identifying potential problems before they become expensive surprises. Working closely with Project Managers to protect schedules, budgets, and profitability. Maintaining accurate daily reports and project documentation. Building strong relationships with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and project partners. Helping develop the next generation of Genesis field leaders. For an Assistant Superintendent, the role will involve working alongside senior field leadership while progressively taking ownership of project responsibilities. For an experienced Superintendent, we expect you to lead your projects with confidence, accountability, and an owner's mindset. WHO WE'RE LOOKING FORWe value experience, but we also recognize that a resume doesn't tell the whole story. For an Assistant Superintendent:2+ years of commercial construction or relevant field leadership experience preferred. A solid understanding of construction methods and jobsite operations. The initiative and ambition to develop into a Superintendent. For a Superintendent:5+ years of commercial construction experience, including field leadership. Experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors. Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, safety, quality, and project execution. Experience with K-12, municipal, higher education, or commercial projects is a plus. For both positions, we're looking for someone who: Leads by example and earns respect rather than demanding it. Takes ownership instead of making excuses. Communicates clearly and isn't afraid of difficult conversations. Understands that safety and quality are nonnegotiable. Is organized, proactive, and comfortable using technology. Can read drawings, anticipate conflicts, and coordinate trades. Is willing to learn, adapt, and embrace better ways of building. Understands that leadership is about developing people, not just directing them. OSHA training and experience with construction management software are preferred.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Let's talk about what this opportunity could mean for your career. Real responsibility. You'll be trusted to make decisions and take ownership of your work. Direct access to leadership. Your ideas won't have to travel through five layers of management before someone listens. Career growth. As Genesis expands, we're creating opportunities for people who want to grow into senior field leadership and operations management. A variety of projects. You'll gain experience across different commercial construction markets, delivery methods, and self-performed trades. Professional development. We believe in investing in people who are willing to invest in themselves. A culture built around accountability and respect. We expect high performance, but we also believe in supporting one another and celebrating our wins. Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to help build a company that is still writing its story. THIS PROBABLY ISN'T FOR EVERYONEIf you're looking for a position where you can blend into the background, avoid responsibility, and wait for someone else to solve the problems, Genesis probably isn't the place for you. But if you're the kind of person who sees a challenge and thinks, "I've got this," we should talk. We want people who are hungry to grow, confident enough to lead, and humble enough to keep learning. People who understand that building a great project starts with building a great team.
